Novaya Gazeta (28.02.2022) – https://bit.ly/35FftRt – The head of the Duma Committee on Security, Vasily Piskarev, proposed introducing criminal and administrative liability for “distorting the purpose, role and tasks of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as other formations during special military and other operations,” RBC reports .

Piskarev’s bill includes, among other things, criminal penalties for fakes up to 15 years in prison. “Fakes demoralize society, undermine confidence in the Russian Army and law enforcement agencies, and, most importantly, this is a huge blow to the relatives and friends of the fighters,” the deputy emphasized in his statement.

According to RIA Novosti, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin has already approved the initiative, and now the committee will start developing the bill.

“In the near future, we will be able to make some first proposals,” Piskarev said.

Earlier, Roskomnadzor blocked the websites of Present Time*, New Times, Krym.Realii* and the Russian-language version of Interfax-Ukraine, as well as the Ukrainian publications Gordon, Correspondent and Ukrainska Pravda.
