Sova – The court found her guilty under Part 1 of Article 148 (public actions expressing obvious disrespect for society and committed in order to insult the religious feelings of believers) and Part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (calls for extremist activities committed on the Internet) and sentenced her to two years of suspended imprisonment, a fine of 100 thousand rubles and a ban on administering Internet resources for two years.
12.09.2024 – The head of Kuban, contrary to the opinion of the citizens, supported the construction of the temple in Krasnodar
Sova – On September 10, 2024, it became known that during the meeting of the Krasnodar Urban Planning Council, the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Veniamin Kondratyev supported the construction of a temple on the Kuban embankment, in the Yubilee microdistrict.
Moreover, he suggested that the temple be built on a stylobate, then other organizations could be placed at the bottom of the building. If such a decision is made, it will increase the load on the already need of strengthening of the Kuban coast.
09.09.2024 – Dmitriy Terebilov served his sentence for his faith, but was not released
JW – Dmitriy Terebilov, who complete his prison term for his faith on September 5, remains behind bars. Already on August 26, the Sverdlovsk District Court of Kostroma ruled to place Terebilov in a pretrial detention center in the second case – for conversations about the Bible with another prisoner.
The investigation interprets such conversations as “the involvement of convicted persons… in the activity of an extremist organization.” The man Terebilov had been talking to, was working with the investigation, pretending to be interested in the Bible.
05.09.2024 – A sentence was handed down in the Stavropol Territory in the case of insulting the feelings of believers and hooliganism
Sova – On September 5, 2024, the Novoaleksandrovsky District Court sentenced three local residents under Part 1 of Art. 148 of the Criminal Code (insult to religious feelings of believers) and Part 2 of Art. 213 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism committed by a group of persons motivated by religious hatred). 17-year-old Yuri M. was sentenced to one year and ten months of suspended imprisonment with a two-year probationary period. 20-year-old Danila Zharikhin received, taking into account the unspent part of the sentence imposed on him a year earlier, two years of a general regime colony with a nine-month ban on driving transport, 21-year-old Dmitry Sobenin received two years in a general regime colony.
05.09.2024 – In the Rostov region, the court is considering cases of liquidation of three religious organizations
Sova – On September 5, 2024, it became known that the Rostov Regional Court was considering three cases of liquidation of religious organizations at once: the Jewish community of Novocherkassk, the Rostov Jewish religious community and the community of the Assyrian Church of the East in Shakhty.
The initiators of the cases in the first two cases were the Ministry of Justice, in the case of the Assyrian community – the Rostov Regional Court.
What caused the lawsuits is not reported.
05.09.2024 – Attack on girls in hijabs in Moscow
Sova – A Muscovite approached two sisters aged 15 and 17 who came from Dagestan, called them “Tajiks” and began to accuse them of “coming to a foreign country with their charter” and “behave very brazenly”. The girls reminded her about freedom of religion in the Russian Federation. The lady advised the girls to go to “her country” and said that with their appearance they support men’s violence against women.
Then the lady hit one of the sisters, knocked out her phone, and grabbed the other by the hair through a handkerchief. The attacker shouted: “This is my country, not yours! And you behave here as you like. Your men are criminals. I can’t stand you anymore.”
The girls filed a statement with the police.
04.09.2024 – The investigation of the next cases of Jehovah’s Witnesses from Vyselyok, Krasnodar Krai, has been completed
Sova – On September 4, 2024, it became known that the investigation into the cases of Jehovah’s Witnesses from the Settlements of the Krasnodar Territory Vladimir Lepsky, Natalia Novoseletskaya and Irina Ushakova was completed. They are accused under Part 2 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of an extremist organization).
The cases were initiated on March 28, 2024 by the Korenovsky Interdistrict Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Krasnodar Territory. The department reported on April 18, 2024.
03.09.2024 – The leader of the local organization “Falun Dafa” was detained in Mordovia
Sova – On September 3, 2024, the leader of the local organization “Falun Dafa” I. Maksinyaev. Scames were carried out at five addresses in Saransk, Aksenovo and Romodanovo.
According to the law enforcement agencies, during the 2000s Maksinyaev created a local branch of “Falun Gong” and attracted residents of the republic there, taught them qigong gymnastics and “ideology of movement”. He managed to attract more than ten people to the “cell”.
03.09.2024 – Chelyabinsk priest is banned for refusing to pray “for Holy Russia”
Sova – On September 2, 2024, the rector of the temple in honor of the martyr was banned from the priesthood. Peter, Metropolitan Krutitsky priest Peter Ustinov. According to him, the main reason for the ban was his refusal to read the prayer “About Holy Russia” prescribed by the patriarch.
“Yes, I really didn’t read this prayer. Why? Because I don’t understand who “holy Russia” is. The saint may be a person living in accordance with the will of God, but not a historical and cultural, now non-existent state entity of the Eastern Slavs of the 9th century.
02.09.2024 – The Ministry of Justice demands to liquidate the Muslim community “Alushta”
Sova – On August 29, 2024, it became known about the appeal of the Department of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Crimea to the Supreme Court of Crimea with a demand to liquidate the Muslim community “Alushta”.
According to the plaintiff, the religious organization “allowed actions aimed at carrying out extremist activities”, thereby committing “a gross violation of the legislation governing the activities of religious organizations”.
